Mold occurs quite frequently in households. It can be the cause of many health problems.

At the heart of molds is the fungal formation of spores, which can be seen with the naked eye. Your health will also reflect the consequences of contact with mold.

The most common symptoms include:

  • headache
  • fatigue and weakness after more intense physical activity, e.g. training
  • memory problems
  • sensitivity to light, blurred vision, red eyes
  • respiratory problems – cough, shortness of breath, asthma
  • dizziness
  • weight gain
  • muscle cramps, joint pain
  • numbness and tingling
  • abdominal pain, diarrhea, changes in appetite, nausea
  • night sweats
  • excessive thirst
  • frequent urination
  • metallic taste in the mouth

Mold thrives in warm and damp places. It can appear in the bathroom, poorly ventilated spaces, behind furniture, in books, on shoes, and on carpets.

Mold can also be spread by unreplaced filters in household appliances; air circulation may no longer be clean at all. Animals can also introduce mold into the home.

Toxic substances are known as mycotoxins, which are released into the air. Given that most of us spend a lot of time in enclosed spaces like offices or homes, we should learn to protect ourselves and other family members.
