A person who is damn lucky and has this rare banknote at home will get rich. This banknote has a relatively high value and its worth can rise to astronomical heights. All you have to do is find a hint of exotic Africa on the 1993 200 CZK banknote.

Error at the State Printing Office

If you make a mistake at work, your boss certainly won’t praise you, but if you make a mistake at the State Printing Office for securities, a unique story will begin to unfold, at the end of which there may be a very interesting sum.

In 1993, after the split with Slovakia, the Czech Republic relatively quickly needed its own currency.

The security strip was then purchased in a whole roll in Germany. And there they accidentally mixed into the shipment a metal strip that refers to Africa.

A find worth almost a million crowns

“So this is a two-hundred note from 1993 and it has a security strip with the inscription Republique du Zaire.

They made a mistake by taking another reel of metal tape. The vast majority were seized, but a few pieces went into circulation.

In my opinion there is really little chance that the banknote is still in circulation. It won’t make you a millionaire, but we managed to sell one in perfect condition for 600 to 700 thousand. It really is an undamaged banknote that looks as if it came straight from the printer,” said Roman Veselý of AUREA Numismatika, adding that the banknote may still be lying in someone’s drawer.

Do you have this banknote at home?

No one knows exactly how many banknotes entered circulation in 1993 featuring Jan Ámos Komenský and the inscription Republique du Zaire.

It is certain that collectors began withdrawing them from circulation very quickly. There are currently about twenty known specimens among them.

Others may be lying somewhere under a cabinet, in an old drawer, or in an unused jacket from a grandfather.

The chances of more “African” banknotes appearing are minimal. But you never know whether, in a general sense, luck will fall on you. Quickly check to see if you have any.
