Rubber Crocs shoes have been on the market since 2002. Over 300 million of these shoes have been sold.
Their comfort unfortunately doesn’t guarantee that they’re harmless
All arguments about this footwear inevitably come down to the statement “I don’t care, they’re comfortable”.
The authors of this statement blissfully assume that shoes that pamper their feet cannot be bad for the body. However, for moms, toddlers, hospital staff and all people who have completely given up on their appearance, we now have very bad news.
Science has also come out against Crocs
“Unfortunately, Crocs are not suitable for all-day wear. These shoes do not adequately stabilize the heel. When the heel is unstable, the toes tend to clench, which can lead to tendon inflammation, worsening toe deformities, nail problems, corns and calluses. The same can happen with flip‑flops or any other similar footwear that does not have a stabilized heel,” Dr. Megan Leahy, a pediatrician from the Illinois Bone and Joint Institute in Chicago, told the Huffington Post.
And even though classic Crocs have a back strap that protects the heel, there are still quite significant problems. What are they?
They bend at the arch
As Dr. Alex Kor, president of the American Academy of Podiatric Sports Medicine, states, the most important part of any shoe is the so‑called arch, which is part of the support structure that lies between the heel and the toes and runs under the arch of the foot.
“Patients are more likely to experience foot pain if their shoes bend at the arch. I often see patients in my office who complain of arch or heel pain but are wearing Crocs,” Kor also told reporters at the Huffington Post. He then referred to Crocs as something of an icon of this type of footwear. So Crocs are not only clumsy and unattractive, but also potentially dangerous.
And finally, here’s a nice tweet that perfectly captures the situation with these shoes:
If Donald Trump was a shoe he’d be a croc

Do you know anyone in your circle who swears by them?
