Do you like strawberries? If so, prepare a fantastic dessert that is perfect for an afternoon coffee or for a get-together with friends. It will perfectly replace store-bought desserts, and children love it just as much as adults. Another indisputable advantage is the simple and quick preparation, during which even the smallest ones can help. What will you need?

  • Powdered sugar
  • 250 ml 30% whipping cream
  • Strawberries (choose the quantity according to your preference)
  • 500 g low-fat quark

How to make it?

First, pour the cream into a bowl and whip it into stiff peaks. Then add the sugar and the quark. The amount of sugar is entirely up to you and depends on how sweet you want the finished dessert to be. It also depends on how many strawberries you use, as they are quite sweet on their own. Gently fold everything together so the whipped cream doesn’t collapse and remains nice and firm.

Slice the strawberries into slices or quarters. Take a bowl or a small baking dish, line the bottom with a layer of strawberries and then cover it with a layer of whipped cream with quark. Alternate the layers like this until you have used up the ingredients. The dessert does not need to be baked in the oven; simply let it rest in the refrigerator for a few hours and it will be ready to serve.

Try other fruit

If you want, you can intersperse the layers of strawberries and whipped cream with other fruit. Such a dessert will be excellent with blueberries, peaches or raspberries. A layer of pineapple will give it an exotic taste; it will be slightly tart with currants or gooseberries, for example. You can add anything that has just ripened in your garden.

Another option is to start the first layer with broken cookies, crackers or ladyfingers instead of strawberries. Of course you can get even more creative with the dessert: split the whipped cream in half and color one part with cocoa or food coloring. On top you can create patterns from fruit or decorate it with the remaining cream using a piping bag. This will give it a more festive look and the layering combinations will be fun for children too.
