If you are a beef lover, you surely know many ways to prepare it. However, the key to success usually lies in choosing the right cut. If you don’t choose well, it can happen that cooking does more harm than good and instead of becoming tender and juicy, it is dry and often tough.

Sometimes our options are limited by the meat available on the market, sometimes by financial reasons. For all these cases, however, we have a tip for a unique marinade that will make your beef always tender and tasty. The secret lies in one unusual ingredient: kiwi.

Required ingredients

For a marinade to tenderize the beef you will need these ingredients:

  • 1 – 1.5 kg of beef, to suit your taste
  • 1 to 2 kiwis (depending on size)
  • onion
  • garlic
  • rosemary, or other preferred seasonings.
  • salt, and
  • pepper.

Preparation method

Wash the meat well under running cold water and then pat it dry. It is preferable to cut it into slices, because this way the marinade is better absorbed.

Peel the kiwi and, depending on the firmness of the fruit, grate the flesh with a grater or blend it.

When you have the kiwi base prepared, add finely diced onion and garlic and season according to your taste.

Place the beef slices into the prepared marinade so they are submerged on both sides. Then cover the container with the marinated meat with a lid or plastic wrap and let the meat marinate for at least 30 minutes. If you think you got a particularly tough cut, you can leave it in the marinade a little longer for safety, but never for more than 2 hours. That is the absolute maximum, because after that the meat’s structure would start to break down.

An undeniable benefit of this marinade is that it also speeds up the preparation of beef, reducing the total time to a maximum of 50 minutes. Thanks to the marinade’s composition, the finished dish will always be juicy and tender.

Enjoy your meal!
