Czechs love lard. That’s a fact you can’t argue with. Homemade lard is, of course, much better, but you need to have a great recipe for it and devote a little time to it. Today we bring you an unconventional recipe for homemade pork lard in a salty brine that you have certainly not tasted before. You’ll see that it practically melts on the tongue and you can enjoy it however you like best. Most of us eat it most often with bread, but you can also cook with it.

What will you need?

The ingredients you need to prepare this unique lard will surely not surprise you. The only thing you might not have at the moment is the lard itself. The other ingredients are very common and anyone who at least occasionally cooks homemade meals will have them in their kitchen. And if you want to make homemade lard in a salt brine, you certainly belong to that group. Before you start, prepare:

  • lard – 800 g, drinking water – 1 ½ glasses,
  • salt – 75 g, whole peppercorns – 5 pcs,
  • allspice – 3 pcs, bay leaves – a couple of leaves,
  • garlic – 4 cloves.

How to

First of all, pour the water into a pot and add all the spices. You will get a brine that you must boil for 5 minutes. Then set it aside and let it cool completely. Take the lard and cut it into small rectangles. Finally, you can prepare the garlic. Slice it into thin slices. Once you have all the ingredients prepared like this, you need to find a container with a capacity of one liter. The lard will marinate in this container in the special brine.

Place the lard with the garlic into this container. Pour the prepared brine into the container and let the lard marinate in this brine for several days. Then place the container in the refrigerator for a few days. After that, drain the brine and dry the lard thoroughly. Before eating, slice the lard into thin slices, wrap the rest in foil and place it in the freezer. Believe that this delicacy will appeal to your whole family.
