Colgate toothpastes are among the most popular in the world. Maybe that is why you are one of the people who use them daily. One study, however, found that a substance contained in these toothpastes may be a cause of cancer and other health problems. It is a chemical called triclosan.
It is often a component of laundry powders, deodorants, liquid soaps and antiseptic products, where it acts as an antibacterial agent.
What is triclosan and what consequences can it have
Triclosan is a highly toxic substance, considered a sibling of one of the most poisonous substances in the world – dioxin. Dioxin can even be formed from triclosan. The magazine Chemical Research and Toxicology (Chemical research and toxicology) published another study that explains that this substance at higher concentrations causes cancer. It penetrates through our skin into the bloodstream and subsequently causes hormonal imbalance in the body .
