Problems with falling asleep are starting to affect more and more people. And it’s no wonder – stress at work and personal problems take their toll. However, Dr. Andrew Weil from Harvard University came up with a unique trick to beat insomnia …

This trick consists of a unique breathing technique. The advantage is that you don’t need any special equipment – all you need is your body. This method should calm the nervous system overall and release accumulated stress.

The whole method is based on placing your tongue on the roof of your mouth while breathing calmly. However, it’s not that simple. It follows the 4-7-8 rule.

How it works 

1. Place the tip of your tongue against your gum, but don’t press too hard. Then inhale through your nose and count to four.
2. Hold your breath and count to seven.
3. Exhale and count to eight.
4. Repeat this at least four times.

Study 

Participants who practiced this breathing exercise for two months were very surprised by the changes that occurred in them. Their digestion improved significantly, their blood pressure and heart rate decreased. And they no longer had problems falling asleep.
