This true story did indeed take place in the last century, but its content remains topical and interesting. Its main protagonist is a professor of geochemistry named Jane Plant, who in 1987 was diagnosed with breast cancer by doctors. She and her husband could not come to terms with the illness, so they searched all possible means and options to support her treatment.

Scientific findings from China

Since Jane’s husband worked at that time as a recognized scientist in China, he began searching the country for how he could help his wife with the treatment of the disease. Then he came across a very interesting finding. Chinese women practically do not suffer from breast cancer. The man therefore wondered why this is so. In this way he might decipher what could heal his wife.

A different diet than in Western countries

It is generally known that the Chinese eat very healthily. Their diet consists mainly of cooked rice and also an enormous amount of seafood and vegetables. Fat in their food is therefore overall only 14%, as opposed to ours, which contains up to 36%. However, that was not what Jane’s husband was actually investigating. His wife had eaten very healthily for most of her life. And suddenly an interesting report arrived. The Chinese practically do not consume dairy products.

Jane’s diet contained many dairy products

He relayed his findings to his wife after returning from work. That made Jane reflect on the past and the type of her diet before doctors told her about the serious illness. Since chemotherapy was not helping the woman enough, she decided to try such an experiment. For six weeks she removed dairy products (i.e., yogurts, curds, milk, cheeses, and the like) from her diet. And the results were more than surprising. Jane had, it seemed, initiated a kind of healing process in her body that left even the renowned doctors at the oncology clinic astonished.

After nearly two months recovery followed

About six weeks after eliminating dairy products from her diet, Jane Plant began to feel much better. By some miracle her breast tumor began to shrink until it eventually disappeared completely. Jane, of course, continued to attend chemotherapy sessions in the meantime, which certainly also contributed to her recovery. Primarily, however, she attributed the positive effects to the change in lifestyle. The medical staff who cared for the woman throughout were amazed. They had not experienced anything like this before. Do you also believe in such miracles and in the influence of food on bodily processes?
