Do you grow cucumbers and don’t know how to prevent their leaves from yellowing? All gardeners recommend a homemade fertilizer that is simple to prepare and, moreover, you can have it ready quickly, so you can use it whenever you need it. The fertilizer will prevent leaves from yellowing and will keep them green until they begin to bloom.
Leaves turn yellow because the crop lacks vitamins or has been attacked by pests
To solve the disease or the yellowing of cucumber leaves you will need only three ingredients. A bucket of water, a loaf of bread and 5 ml of iodine. Slice the bread into slices, put them into the bucket of water, cover the bucket with a lid. Let the solution sit overnight. Then add 5 ml of iodine, mix everything thoroughly and let it stand for another two hours.
The fertilizer will work best if you let it sit for several days. Then strain out the soaked bread remnants, because you will only need the liquid solution. Dilute one liter of the finished mixture with ten liters of water. Finally spray the resulting mixture onto the cucumber leaves. You can store the solution in a cool cellar; apply the spray once every 14 days.
What role do iodine and bread play in the fertilizer?
Plants need iodine; it is involved in the synthesis of amino acids and proteins. It is also classified among natural antiseptics and is part of nitrogen exchange and photosynthesis. If plants have an iodine deficiency, it can manifest, for example, in disrupted growth processes. They may also not bloom at all.
Bread, on the other hand, contains yeast, which contains nutrients, minerals and other necessary substances that crops appreciate. If you use the fertilizer we’ve shown you, you will improve the plant’s root system. It will accelerate decomposition, and the number of fruits you can harvest will also increase. You can fertilize with bread 2-3 times over 14 days, but no earlier than when the first flowers appear, from which the fruits will form. Use the bread fertilizer alternately with green manures; also try lime or ash.
