During the summer we often walk in slippers, flip-flops or sandals. It is therefore not desirable to have dry, callused skin or corns on your feet. Yet it takes little and your feet will be beautiful, soft and look healthy. A miraculous remedy in this case is sea salt, which contains many minerals and beneficial substances.

Soak your feet in salt water

If for some reason you cannot get sea salt, try to look for some coarse salt at least. Pour warm water into a larger bowl or basin. It should not be too hot; test whether you can comfortably keep your finger in it. Dissolve half a cup of salt in the water and soak both feet in it. This procedure is best done in the evening.

Leave your feet bathing in the basin for at least half an hour. You can relax, read or maybe watch television while doing so. After half an hour take your feet out, dry them and rub them with a clean towel. Your skin should be noticeably softer and velvety. You will further enhance the effect if you then apply a thicker layer of an oily cream to your feet and wrap them in thin cotton socks for the night. Choose ones you don’t mind getting stained with cream.

Give yourself a scrub

You can add additional ingredients to the bath to amplify the effect. For example, apple cider vinegar and lemon juice will leave the feet wonderfully soft. Repeat the whole procedure two to three times a week. Remove very callused skin with a pumice stone or a coarser brush. Don’t forget to regularly oil them with cream or cosmetic petroleum jelly.

You can also treat yourself to a foot scrub. You can use coffee grounds, cornmeal or brown sugar for it. They are excellent exfoliants that remove dead skin cells and leave it smooth and soft. Simply mix the chosen ingredient with any oil to create a paste-like mass, and apply it to the soles with circular movements. Then rinse the scrub off with water and apply cream to your feet.
