The destruction of bacteria that cause various serious infections is, according to the latest reports from the World Health Organization, seriously threatened by an increasing number of so‑called resistant bacterial strains. This is a serious threat to the health of the world population. Without effective antibiotics it will be impossible to treat even common infections.
A dangerous class of antibiotics
Resistance to the use of one group of antibiotics, known as fluoroquinolones, is currently increasing across the healthcare system. As the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) explains, these antibiotics can seriously harm health and cause peripheral neuropathy. They are usually prescribed to treat a wide spectrum of infections, including respiratory infections and urinary tract infections .
The following antibiotics belong to the fluoroquinolone group:
- ciprofloxacin
- gemifloxacin
- levofloxacin
- moxifloxacin
- norfloxacin
- ofloxacin
What is peripheral neuropathy?
These antibiotics are capable of fighting almost any infection, but they often fail in respiratory and urinary tract infections. In addition, their use leads to damage to the nerves in the brain and spinal cord, which is called peripheral neuropathy. In it, the connection between the brain and the spinal cord is disrupted. The result is weakness and numbness of the upper and lower limbs. There may also be sensations of tingling, burning, or sharp stabbing pains.
Side effects of fluoroquinolones
After taking these antibiotics, side effects occur almost immediately and can persist even after stopping them. Fluoroquinolones are administered both orally and by intravenous injection. If you have taken these drugs and experience any adverse symptoms, you should contact your doctor immediately.
In addition to the previously mentioned nerve damage, fluoroquinolones can cause other serious consequences, such as tendon damage up to rupture, joint and muscle pain, stabbing sensations throughout the body, or even disorientation and hallucinations.
Natural ways to treat respiratory infections
If you have a respiratory infection, try to stay well hydrated and avoid sugary drinks and foods. Sugar goes straight into the blood and, in large amounts, affects the body’s ability to fight infections. Also avoid smoking and caffeine. To suppress the infection you can use various spices, such as chili or horseradish, combined with apple cider vinegar or lemon juice.
Inhalations using sea or Himalayan salt are also recommended. Echinacea can effectively boost immunity during infections and freshly crushed garlic mixed with honey is also helpful (honey is the only exception to the “no sweets” rule).
Natural ways to treat urinary tract infections
D-mannose is recommended for the rapid treatment of urinary tract infections. It is a substance similar to glucose that naturally occurs in apples, blueberries and cranberries. This method works so well because D-mannose binds to E. coli bacteria in the urinary tract and flushes them out of the body.
Moreover, D-mannose has no side effects and is not subject to metabolic processes in the body. The first results of its use usually appear within 2 days. It can also be used as prevention of urinary tract infections during the winter months.
