The portal asked former chiefs of the General Staff about the current security situation in Europe as a result of the coronavirus.

According to them, dependence on imported protective equipment from China represents a risk for the Czech Republic. Analysts disagree with their position and moreover accuse them of the current crisis.

Currently China, where the situation with the coronavirus epidemic is gradually being resolved, is actively helping European countries in the fight against the infection.

Supplies respirators, masks and other protective equipment, as well as coronavirus tests.

Today one million disposable face masks and 100 thousand rapid coronavirus tests arrived in Slovakia from China. The first plane with protective supplies is due to arrive from China to the Czech Republic as early as Friday.

What do the former chiefs of the General Staff of the Czech Republic, who warn against Chinese deliveries from abroad, say?

„I don’t want to act smart and claim that all of this could have been prevented in time, that the government should have foreseen it. But it is evident that a pandemic of such scale can become a very serious security risk. And it can certainly recur. It will be necessary to take a thorough look at our options and capabilities to better and more effectively face such situations in the future,“ said a former chief of the General Staff.

Dependence on China is „a strategic and macroeconomic problem with deep penetrations into everyday life and the country’s economy“.

But according to him, General Pavel cannot blame the current government for that.
