Fogged car windows are not only annoying, but also dangerous. With the onset of cold weather, due to the large temperature difference, car windows often become very foggy. However, you can easily get rid of the problem using the following method. The solution is so simple that it would be a big mistake not to try it. Do not doubt its effectiveness and make yourself an effective dehumidifier. What will you need to make a homemade dehumidifier?

  • Sock
  • Fine cat litter

How to do it?

Grab some old socks and fill them with fine cat litter. Then tie the opening of the sock with one or two knots and that’s it! To make the effect perfect, make at least two to three pieces. Place one on the dashboard and the other under the seat. Once the moisture is absorbed, remove them and thoroughly dry the contents of the socks or replace them completely. Reusing the litter will of course be much cheaper than replacing it with new litter every time.

Moisture absorber

Once the litter dries, you can refill the sock and put it back in the car. These small packets are so effective that you can’t even imagine it. You can even try this method in a very humid apartment. Cat litter, thanks to its properties, completely absorbs all the moisture that forms around it. The good thing is that it’s much cheaper than buying some chemical dehumidifier. It will pull moisture not only in the car during winter, but also from a damp closet or bathroom.

Of course there are also other ways to get rid of moisture in the car. Among older drivers there is a known method where you put old newspapers under the mats, which absorb the present moisture. You can also buy special small heaters that defog the windshield and can be plugged into the car socket. However, you must expect that you will be draining power from your car and, moreover, these heaters are more expensive than litter and old socks.
