Varicose veins do not only trouble women of mature age; they can also occur in much younger representatives of both sexes. Not only are they aesthetically unattractive, but they also pose, above all, a health risk. Therefore it is good to know how to prevent them and how to alleviate their symptoms using various, including natural, methods.

What are varicose veins

Varicose veins are also known as varices and are a disease of the venous system. In the superficial veins there is enlargement, various bending and the formation of nodules. Varicose veins are characterized by a certain plasticity and also a bluish-purple color.

It is a genetic condition that cannot be completely prevented. However, there are risk factors that promote its occurrence. These factors include in particular

  • lack of exercise
  • overweight and obesity
  • crossing the legs while sitting
  • work that involves standing, and
  • sitting for too long.

There are various special medical stockings available on the market that bring relief to those affected; however, if the condition is more serious, surgery is often the only solution.

A surprisingly effective natural remedy

There is, however, also a natural remedy that is very effective in the fight against varicose veins. This remedy is green tomatoes, which have positive effects, among other things, specifically on troublesome varices.

Compresses made from green tomatoes are especially popular in Russia, and you might be surprised at the results people achieve there. The procedure is very simple. Well-washed green tomatoes are cut into medium-thick slices, applied to the affected area, and then secured with a bandage. The time the tomatoes should act is individual, but the compress should be left on until a tingling sensation occurs. Then it is recommended to remove the bandage, take off the tomato slices and rinse the treated area, preferably with cool water.

This treatment is recommended four times a day, and you should notice some improvement already after the first day. If you repeat this procedure for 14 days, your pain will lessen and there will be a significant improvement in the varicose veins.
