Are you craving something delicious? If so, we know what your body is missing and you should replenish it as soon as possible!
Craving chocolate? You’re missing magnesium!
A simple source of magnesium is sunflower and sesame seeds or almonds. Avocado or seaweed are also a suitable source.
Craving cheese? Replenish calcium!
If you have a long-term craving for cheese and every time you see it you start to salivate, try supplementing calcium. Its sources include, for example, fish, broccoli or almonds.
Craving something salty? Replenish your fluid intake!
A desire for chips or other salty treats may indicate that you are dehydrated. Salt retains fluids in the body, so a craving for salty foods may indicate that it is trying to hold on to at least some water. If you drink around two liters of fluids a day, your craving for chips will pass.
Craving baked goods? You are not eating enough!
If you have an overwhelming craving at the sight of bread or spaghetti, you probably haven’t eaten much during the day. The carbohydrates found in baked goods are the main fuel. When you have a craving, consider replenishing your stores.
Craving coffee? Replenish phosphorus and iron
You can replenish phosphorus with whole-grain products or nuts. If you want to replenish iron, eat leafy greens, dried raisins or seaweed.
