A chop, or pork roast, is one of the most popular meats. However, it needs to be prepared correctly, because with improper preparation it can very easily dry out and the meat then is not as good. Making a chop tasty and juicy can sometimes be quite a challenge and for many of us it can be a real tough nut to crack. Today we will tell you about a new recipe that you will surely enjoy and which is also very simple and quick to prepare.
Ingredients
For the preparation we will need the following ingredients:
- 3 slices of meat
- 100 g of hard cheese
- 1 medium onion
- 2 cloves of garlic
- 1 – 2 tomatoes
- 2 cooked potatoes
- 80 g of mayonnaise or sour cream
- 2 teaspoons of full-fat mustard
- salt, pepper
- spices to taste
Preparation
First of all, we prepare the meat. Pound it, salt and pepper it. You can also add seasoning to taste. Grill seasoning or herbs, either fresh or dried, work great. You can even prepare the meat a day in advance and leave it salted, seasoned and drizzled with a little oil to rest in the refrigerator. If you store it in the fridge, don’t forget to cover it so it doesn’t dry out on top.
Next we will need a baking tray, which we line with baking paper. Instead of a tray you can also use a casserole dish or another oven-safe container. Lay thin slices of onion on the baking paper. Place the previously prepared meat on the onion, which should be spread with mustard; then sprinkle the meat with chopped tomatoes and pressed garlic.
On a fine grater, grate the previously boiled potatoes, which are then mixed with mayonnaise. Instead of mayonnaise you can use sour cream. Spread this mixture over the chops. Season everything a little with salt and pepper.
Bake for approximately 40 minutes at 180° in a preheated oven. About 5 minutes before finishing, take the meat out of the oven, sprinkle it with grated cheese and put it back to bake. You can use Edam-type cheeses, Gouda, Cheddar or others. If you are a fan of blue cheeses, don’t hesitate to try adding Niva. Mashed potatoes make the best side dish.
Enjoy your meal!
