One of the medical problems parsley can help with is swelling of the feet.

Foot swelling

  • use of certain types of drugs

Parsley tea

Parsley is known as a distinctive diuretic. It encourages the body to eliminate excess water and salts by supporting the kidneys’ work in filtering water from the blood.

A study published in 2002 in the Journal of Ethnopharmacology provided supporting evidence for the use of parsley as a diuretic.

The study was conducted on mice (humans and mice essentially have similar physiology). Mice that received a parsley concentrate produced significantly more urine over 24 hours than those given only plain water.

Researchers acknowledge that the plant acts as a diuretic because it affects sodium and potassium channels, which in turn influences absorption processes and leads to an increased flow of urine.

Parsley is very rich in potassium. Many synthetic diuretic drugs reduce the level of potassium in the body. That is their main adverse effect.

If you use parsley, you avoid this.

Parsley is also a basic cellular tonic, a source of vitamins A and C, and it contains a considerable amount of folic acid, which is one of the most important substances in anti-tumor action against malignant growth.
