We all know it – birthdays, Christmas or other important celebrations call for buying a gift, which in most cases won’t wrap itself. And if you don’t happen to be one of those who enjoy wrapping and have nimble, creative fingers, then it can certainly be a rather unpleasant activity for you. According to this Japanese technique, however, you’ll manage to wrap a gift in a few minutes – and you don’t even have to be particularly skilled. How to do it?

Forget traditional methods

The whole trick lies in the correct folding of the paper. Just think about how you usually wrap gifts. You place them nicely in the middle of the wrapping paper and then fold the paper around until you get a more or less neat package. But this way you use unnecessarily much paper and the final effect will never be as smooth and perfect.

But this Japanese method uses the paper completely differently. Instead of folding flat it practices folding over the corner. Although it may initially seem complicated, the result is noticeably prettier and tidier. In addition, you’ll not only achieve packages that truly look polished, but you’ll also be done literally in a few minutes.

Nimble fingers and the right technique

You will understand the procedure most easily if you watch the video. From it it is also immediately evident how quickly gifts can be wrapped once you gain the necessary practice and understand how the method works. Once you adopt this simple trick, wrapping will never be a problem for you again. You will always manage with a small square of paper, a few pieces of tape and nimble fingers. The first two steps are key. Start from the corner, fold the paper once and secure it carefully with tape, then fold the excess paper over the second corner and turn the package upside down. The final step is just to cover the last corner and you’re done. Then add, for example, a decorative bow and you have a splendid gift that’s almost a shame to open. And the recipient will surely be impressed.
