While barbecuing she suffered a stroke. If her friends had known how the signs of a stroke can be recognized, Ingrid could still be alive. Some people do not die immediately. They remain dependent on the help of others, aware that they are in a hopeless and desperate situation. Neurologists claim that if a patient arrives no later than 3 hours after a stroke, she can be saved. They say the trick is not only to recognize and correctly diagnose a stroke, but also to get the patient to a doctor who can treat them within 3 hours.

How to quickly recognize a stroke

There are 4 steps a person should follow when recognizing a stroke. The easiest method to recognize a stroke is to ask the affected person 4 questions:
Ask the affected person to smile (which they will not be able to do)
Ask the affected person to say a simple sentence (for example: It’s nice outside today.)
Ask the affected person to raise both arms (which they will not be able to do, or only with great difficulty).
Ask the affected person to stick out their tongue (if the tongue is crooked and twists from side to side, that is also a sign of a stroke).

If the affected person has trouble performing at least one of the above steps, you should call an ambulance immediately. One cardiologist says that if every person who reads this email forwards it to at least one other person, they can be sure that at least one human life will be saved (and perhaps their own). We receive so many annoying and pointless emails every day that we could at least once use the network for something useful, don’t you think?
