Insecticides and ant traps are not the only means that will help you rid your kitchen and your entire home of unpleasant insects and ants.

An ordinary lemon works for me against ants

Did you know that ants hate lemon? I only found out this spring, when my sister advised me how to get rid of them in the kitchen. All I had to do was wipe the thresholds and window sills with the squeezed juice and drip it into all the holes, cracks and gaps where ants like to gather. I only needed 2 lemons.

Finally I spread small slices of lemon (the leftovers remaining after squeezing the juice) around the apartment entrance from the balcony – this is where the ants always got in. For the ants it was a clear signal that they are not welcome. Lemon also effectively repels bedbugs and fleas. Just follow the procedure below.

Mix 2 liters of water with the juice of 4 lemons (add the peel as well) and use the solution to wipe the floor. Bedbugs and fleas cannot stand the lemon aroma, so just watch them disappear from your home. Besides, it’s an excellent natural cleaner.

My recipe for a universal cleaner – perfect cleanliness and peace from insects

It’s completely simple. Layer lemon peels into a jar and pour in vinegar – if you have it, add sprigs of thyme. Let it rest for 2-3 weeks and then pour it into a spray bottle. The universal household cleaner with a lovely scent is ready. This remedy is also excellent for cleaning the toilet and removing limescale.

I got rid of ants using lemon water – 4 whole lemons with peels blended in 2 liters of water – it is also effective against other insects, for example spiders and cockroaches. Just wash the floor with this water and the unpleasant visitors leave. I also washed the tiles on the terrace and balcony with lemon water; it’s really a great thing, I recommend it!

Mosquitoes and flies are repelled

Stick cloves into a halved lemon. Mosquitoes and flies will smell this combination of scents from afar and because it is too strong and pungent for them, they will avoid the rooms.
