We all probably know the situation when a visitor unexpectedly announces themselves. You meant to rest all day, get on with a long-postponed task, or spend the day doing anything other than baking. You didn’t expect a guest, but you would still like to offer something. What to do in such a situation? Don’t worry, even with little time you can impress your guest with a great dessert.
Anyone can make this dessert
If you’re not big on baking, there’s nothing to fear. The preparation isn’t difficult at all. If you already have some recipes behind you, it will be a piece of cake. Although the dessert consists of three components (sponge, cream and foam), they are all simple and quick. Thanks to the different textures it’s exceptionally tasty. So get started.
First prepare the ingredients for the sponge. You will need 6 egg whites, 6 tablespoons of sugar, 3 tablespoons of flour, 40 g of cocoa and 2 teaspoons of baking powder. Whip the egg whites with the sugar. Then add the flour mixed with the cocoa and the baking powder. Bake on a tray lined with baking paper at 180 degrees for about 10 minutes.
Delicious cream and light foam
While the sponge is baking, you can prepare the cream and the foam. You will need the following ingredients:
cream:
- 600 ml milk
- 6 egg yolks
- 10 tablespoons of sugar
- 1 cream or vanilla pudding
- 3 tablespoons of flour
- 250 g margarine
foam:
- 500 ml whipping cream
- cocoa for sprinkling
Prepare the cream by cooking the pudding in hot milk. Gradually add the other ingredients to it and stir slowly. This will give it a truly creamy and thick consistency. Let the prepared cream cool and then you can spread it onto the cooled sponge. Decorate the whole dessert with just whipped cream and finally sprinkle with cocoa.
The resulting dessert is ideal with coffee for your guests or as a sweet snack, for example over the weekend for you and your family. Because you won’t spend long hours in the kitchen preparing it, you can make it at the last minute when a guest arrives unexpectedly, or anytime you fancy it.
