Its effects were well known to our ancestors. Midwives swore by it and recommended it to all expectant mothers. It was also very popular with doctors, who familiarized everyone with it who fought fevers, diarrhea, or colds. Why? Because it is an amazing cure-all. Thanks to its high vitamin C content, it, in combination with a warm compress, can get you back on your feet after just a few cups. It also contains tannins and organic acids, which is why it has beneficial effects on our body.
Recommended in pregnancy and after childbirth
Pregnancy is an excessive strain on the body, so it is good to support it with herbs. But you must know which ones; careless experimenting with different kinds of herbs could have unfortunate consequences. Raspberry leaf tea is suitable from the completed 36th week of pregnancy, due to its stimulating effects on the smooth uterine muscle. It thus provides relief before, during, and after childbirth. Moreover, it supports lactation, so you don’t have to stop taking it even while breastfeeding.
You don’t have to go to the pharmacy for it
Anyone who has a raspberry cane (raspberry bush) growing in their garden — the shrub on which we find excellent sweet fruits – raspberries — can prepare raspberry leaf tea. The harvesting of the leaves should be carried out in certain months, when the greatest amount of medicinal substances and vitamins are present, preferably in the period from the second half of June to August. Drying the leaves is time-consuming, but the time invested will repay you in the form of solid health. Drying must be done slowly in the shade; direct sunlight would burn the leaves. For one cup of tea you will need 10 g of raspberry leaves poured with 200 ml of boiling water. Steep 10–15 minutes and then strain through a fine sieve. You can sweeten it with sugar, but honey will serve you better, as it also has medicinal effects.
