Learning to walk up stairs correctly is not rocket science. Unfortunately many people do not know the procedure and so it often happens that they cannot climb several floors without getting out of breath. Yet it is really simple and by using this method you will find that you have been climbing stairs the wrong way your whole life and that is why your back or another part of your body hurts.
Help elderly people overcome stairs to upper floors
Older people have a lot of problems with, for example, going up two floors. It is difficult for them because their legs and back hurt and later their arms too. If you want your parents to climb to the upper floors without stopping and without getting out of breath, advise them a tip that will make their way up the stairs easier. In some multi-story buildings you will not find elevators, which for many of us are an automatic convenience.
People therefore have to manage the stairs not only on their own, but often also with heavy shopping or an order they have to pick up at the entrance. Elderly people must expend a lot of effort to get home. This problem was not discussed so much in the past, but the truth is that more and more people have trouble climbing stairs.
Remember three simple rules
Because of aching backs people often visit chiropractors or physiotherapists. They can also advise you the following tricks, which you should remember so that walking up stairs will feel easy. If you instill these rules in your parents sufficiently, you will save them a lot of pain. The first of them is that when many of us step up stairs we lean forward. Unfortunately this posture is not appropriate because the body weight is transferred to the knees.
If you stand upright on the stairs you will feel relief. Then place the whole surface of your foot on the step – because many people are fixed on placing only their toes on the step. By placing your foot fully on the step you will better maintain balance. Next lift your foot high enough to place it. Transfer your weight forward and lift the other foot.
Each time you have a choice, and if you try how simple these rules are and adopt them, you will be whistling because back, leg and joint pains will go away. You will save not only on doctors, but also stop complaining about your aching body to your loved ones. Walking up stairs can thus become your favorite activity, which you may even perform as part of a workout. Walking up stairs should definitely not become something you merely endure.
