Here is a guide on how to make a dessert with nuts and plenty of cocoa at home
The amount of ingredients we list is enough to make two fluffy cakes with walnuts, cocoa and raisins. First of all, however, you must prepare the ingredients you will need. Believe that both young and old will enjoy the dessert and it is great for breakfast, whether you have it with tea, coffee or cocoa.
Required ingredients
For the dough you need to prepare:
- 1 kg flour
- 600 ml warm milk
- 250 g sugar
- a packet of butter
- 2 packets dry yeast
- 6 egg yolks
- 200 g raisins
- 1 teaspoon vanilla essence
- 1 teaspoon rum
- ½ teaspoon salt
- zest of orange and lemon.
But that’s not all. In addition to the dough you will also make the filling, for which you need the following:
- 6 egg whites,
- 600 g ground nuts,
- 4 tablespoons cocoa,
- 200 g powdered sugar.
How to make it?
First, dissolve the yeast in warm milk with 2 tablespoons of sugar. Let it rest for 20 minutes. Once it has swollen, add the rest of the sugar, the flavorings, the melted butter and the salt. Then gradually add the sifted flour, the raisins and begin kneading. You should obtain an elastic and firm dough. Put the dough into a large container and leave it in the refrigerator overnight or for a maximum of 24 hours. Take the dough out of the refrigerator 30–50 minutes before you start working with it.
Now prepare the filling
Whip the egg whites into a foam until they are fluffy. Add the ground nuts, cocoa and powdered sugar. Divide the dough into 4 equal parts. Roll them out into rectangles. Spread ½ of the filling over the first two pieces, roll the dough up and then braid them. Join the ends and place it in a buttered pan. Do the same with the other two pieces of dough and the second half of the filling. Let rise like this for an hour, brush them with an egg yolk mixture, sprinkle with sugar and bake for 40–50 minutes at 170 degrees.
