During a barbecue Ingrid stumbled and fell. She was offered to call an ambulance, but she reassured everyone that she was fine and that she had stumbled because of her new, unbroken-in shoes …
Because she was pale and trembling, they helped her clean up and sat her down at the table with food.

Ingrid’s death

The rest of the evening Ingrid was smiling and cheerful. Ingrid’s husband later called and informed everyone that his wife had been hospitalized. At 11:00 PM she died.

She suffered a stroke while grilling

If her friends had known how to recognize the signs of a stroke, Ingrid might still be alive. Some people do not die immediately. They remain dependent on others’ help, aware that they are in a hopeless and desperate situation.

Neurologists say that if a patient arrives no later than 3 hours after a stroke, they can be saved. They say the trick is not only to recognize and correctly diagnose a stroke, but also to get the patient to a doctor who can treat them within 3 hours.

How to recognize a stroke

There are 4 steps a person should follow when recognizing a stroke. The easiest method to recognize a stroke is to ask the affected person 4 questions:

  • Ask the affected person to smile (which they will be unable to do)
  • Ask the affected person to say a simple sentence (for example: It’s nice outside today.)
  • Ask the affected person to raise both arms (which they will be unable to do, or will have great difficulty doing).
  • Ask the affected person to stick out their tongue (if the tongue is lopsided or twists from side to side, this is also a sign of a stroke).

If the affected person has trouble performing even one of the above steps, an ambulance should be called immediately. One cardiologist says that anyone who reads this article and shares it can be sure that at least one human life will be saved (thanks in part to them).
