Many of us surely remember rushing into the kitchen in winter and finding grandma and grandpa sitting there in warm slippers, sipping fragrant Melta together. Even time won’t erase that familiar scent. Today, however, we even know that Melta hides amazing effects on human health.

Chicory root

Melta is a coffee-substitute blend that consists largely of chicory root, sugar beet, crushed barley and rye.
The chicory root is particularly precious in this mixture, because we would find it only with great difficulty in other commonly consumed foods, yet it is truly a miracle for the human body.
Chicory root contains inulin, which helps with many problems associated with urinary tract inflammation, kidney stones, constipation or loss of appetite.

Inulin

Inulin also increases the absorption of calcium, magnesium and other minerals and lowers cholesterol and lipid levels. It supports proper digestion and improves immunity.
Since inulin is not digested, it has no effect on blood sugar levels: it is therefore safe for diabetics.
It reduces the glycemic index of food and thus contributes to reducing the burden on insulin secretion. If consumed in large amounts, it can cause bloating. It has a low energy value and is suitable for diet programs.

Note: Melta is not suitable for people whose intestinal tract is unable to absorb gluten (the rye component).
