Many countries have finally begun in recent months to address the issue of environmental protection. More and more people are realizing that mere recycling of waste on our planet unfortunately is not enough and it is important to take other steps. Kaufland has now become a clear supporter and protector of the planet. Kaufland has completely stopped using single-use plastics.

Kaufland

Kaufland here in the Czech Republic and in Slovakia certainly ranks among the most widely successful food retailers.
As of this May customers will even look in vain for plastic containers and other pieces of single-use plastic products.

Kaufland originally had a plan according to which it was to phase plastic out of sales at the end of this year, but since the issue of single-use plastics is becoming increasingly serious, it decided to speed up the change and stop plastics in its stores already now.

Single-use plastics

Thanks to Kaufland the planet will be relieved of up to 6 million plastic cups, 5 million plastic cutlery and containers and also 2 million plastic drinking straws.

Kaufland has decided to replace plastic containers and other pieces with new ones made from a different material that will not harm our planet as much. Instead, these items will be made from paper and wood.

Kaufland also assures its customers that from 2025 plastic consumption will be reduced by 20% and products of the top brands will be sold only in fully recyclable packaging.
