After a good dinner most people have gotten into the habit of lying down comfortably, turning on the television and enjoying a pleasant rest. If you are among those who have this or a few other bad habits, know that it can have negative consequences for your overall bodily health and body.
What not to do after eating?
Today we will introduce 5 activities you should avoid after a hearty meal.
Shower and bath
A hot shower significantly increases the body’s blood circulation. This blood is then lacking in the stomach and digestive system, where the body needs it.
The result can be poor digestion and abdominal pain.
Sleep
If you go to bed after eating, there is a higher risk that you will suffer from bloating, abdominal discomfort or sleep problems.
In a lying position food in the stomach is harder to process and there is a risk that food will return to the esophagus. You may then wake up in the morning with strong and very unpleasant heartburn.
In connection with this the risk of esophageal cancer also increases.
Fruit
Experts recommend that we should eat fruit before a meal on an empty stomach, not after a meal as a sweet and healthy dessert.
Different enzymes are required to digest fruit than for regular cooked dishes. In addition, fruit contains a fairly large amount of sugar, which requires more time for its absorption.
Smoking
If you are among smokers, you will probably enjoy a cigarette immediately after a meal. But that is a big mistake.
Cigarettes contain nicotine, which can bind to the free oxygen in food needed for the digestion process. With incomplete digestion the body then absorbs a larger amount of carcinogens from food into the blood than usual.
At the same time the risk of stomach cancer increases.
Tea
Never drink black tea immediately after a meal, because its tannin content disrupts the absorption of iron in the intestines. Tannins bind to proteins and iron.
The result can then be anemia, loss of appetite, cold feet and hands, weakness, dizziness, extreme fatigue or pale skin.
