Showering or bathing. It’s an activity that removes dirt and bacteria from us, and some of us can even relax during a good bath.
We won’t give you lessons on how to shower correctly. However, there are things you should not do while showering or bathing .
1/ Shaving before the actual bath
Whether you use a razor or wax strips to remove hair, you should never shave before bathing.
During a bath your pores subsequently enlarge and open, which leads to dry and dehydrated skin. If you plan to depilate, do it after the bath instead.
2/ Be careful with exfoliation
Many women think that the stronger the exfoliant and the longer you „”scrub”“, the more beautiful and softer the skin will be. However, that is not true.
If you use a scrub during the bath, be careful. Strong exfoliation of the skin can cause inflammation and rashes.
3/ Watch out for sponges
If we use body sponges when showering, we shouldn’t just rinse them and hang them up. Because we use them to wash ourselves, they contain a lot of bacteria inside.
After each shower you should wash and rinse the sponge thoroughly. The lifespan of a sponge is also a maximum of a month, so don’t forget to replace it regularly.
4/ Towels used for too long
The towel you use for your body and hair should be changed after every three or four uses. If you shower every day, you should replace it at least once or twice a week.
To help you remember, pick one day, for example Saturday, when you change the towel as part of the usual Saturday cleaning and laundry.
5/ Excessive use of soap
Soap tends to absorb dirt and oil present on the body, which you then rinse off with water. However, if you use a large amount of soap, you harm your skin.
You should use a minimal amount of soap on the armpit area, intimate parts, and the face.
6/ Using deodorants and antibacterial soaps
Many of us apply deodorant immediately after we step out of the shower. We should avoid this. Strong fragrances and other chemical ingredients draw moisture out of the skin, which leads to itching, flaking, and dehydration of the skin.
Your skin also prematurely ages.
7/ Showering immediately after exercise
After exercising we immediately go for a shower. We feel refreshed and cool down a bit. However, this is not correct. We should shower only an hour after finishing exercise.
This prevents various illnesses, demineralization, and you won’t suffer from colds so often.
8/ Applying moisturizer too late
After the shower we should dry off and apply moisturizer immediately. This is to prevent losing a lot of moisture from the surface layer of the skin. Don’t wait more than a few minutes to rub on some hydrating lotion.
If you have dry and cracked skin, bacteria will find their way in much more easily.
9/ Conditioner
Many people use shampoo with conditioner that is applied simultaneously. However, that is not correct. You should apply conditioner only after shampoo and only to the ends of the hair.
It should not come into contact with the scalp. Therefore use it really only on the ends.
