The thyroid gland is the main control organ that controls how the body uses energy, synthesizes proteins and also determines how sensitively your organism responds to other hormones.

There are many things that affect the function of the thyroid gland. Today we’ll talk about the substances that act toxically on it and also provide a recipe for a drink that will bring it back to normal.

The following 7 things are commonly found in households and adversely affect your thyroid gland or can even destroy it.

1) Pesticides

Studies show that married women have a much higher risk of developing thyroid disease than other women. The cause is likely the increased use of some of the substances listed below.

Other studies have found that 60% of pesticides used today affect the production of thyroid hormones.

Many household cleaning products, especially those with antimicrobial properties or garden weed sprays, reduce thyroid function and increase insulin resistance.

2) Soy and soy products

Phytoestrogens found in soy reduce the activity of the thyroid enzyme peroxidase, which is responsible for the production of other hormones.

Soy can disrupt normal thyroid function also by reducing the body’s ability to utilize iodine.

It does this by blocking the process by which iodine is incorporated into thyroid hormones.

3) Fluoride

According to some sources, 2 to 5 mg of fluoride daily for several months was able to significantly reduce thyroid function.

This problem mainly concerns people living in areas where fluoride is added to drinking water (allegedly to reduce tooth decay).

It is recommended to avoid such water and also not to use toothpastes or mouthwashes containing fluoride.

4) Bromine and bromides

Bromine is highly toxic to the thyroid gland.

Unfortunately, today it is found in a large number of household products – from cleaning agents, through pasta to household electrical appliances, carpets and furniture coatings, where it is used as a flame retardant.

Even seemingly healthy patients often have high blood levels of these bromine flame retardants.

5) Perchlorates

Perchlorates are a by-product produced during the combustion of aviation gasoline, rocket fuels, and common pyrotechnics. They are also used in automobile airbags.

Perchlorates are often found in water used to irrigate agricultural crops, through which they then enter the human body.

6) Halogens

Excessive exposure to a halogen can disrupt the transport of iodine in the body.

Halogens are group 17 elements of the periodic table, which in addition to the aforementioned fluorine and bromine include chlorine, iodine and astatine.

They are chemically similar elements that participate in the same reactions in the organism and can thus replace and displace iodine, because they bind to the same receptors as it.

Halogens enter the body through food, water and air.

7) Plastics

Plastics are harmful not only to the environment but also to your body. The chemical element antimony is often released from plastics.

However, that is only one concern.

A study conducted by the University of Copenhagen found that the level of STIB in fruit juices stored in plastic bottles was 2.5 times higher than the safe level for drinking water.

Drink to support and regenerate the thyroid gland

To make the drink to strengthen thyroid function and its regeneration you will need the following ingredients:

  • 1 glass (2 dcl) unsweetened cranberry juice
  • 7 glasses (1.4 liters) of pure water
  • 1 teaspoon of cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon of ground ginger
  • 1/2 teaspoon of nutmeg
  • 3/4 cup fresh orange juice (from approximately 3 oranges)
  • 1/4 cup fresh lemon juice (from approximately 1-2 lemons)

Preparation and use

Bring the water to a boil. Reduce the heat and add the cranberry juice, cinnamon, ginger and nutmeg.

Mix well and simmer over low heat for 20 minutes. Then turn off the heat and let it cool to room temperature.

Then stir in the orange and lemon juice into the drink.

And that’s it, enjoy! Consume as needed, preferably at least a few glasses a day.
