“Everything is good for something, garlic is good for everything.”
We have already written to you about the various great effects and uses of onion, so now we’ll take a look at garlic. Not everyone is a lover of this healthy miracle.
If you are, you’re in luck; if not, you should think about it as soon as possible. Besides, the drizzly autumn has already arrived. If illnesses start to creep up on you, try arming yourself with a natural pharmacy! After all, it will even protect you from vampires. That means it really has supernatural effects. Don’t believe it?
Where does it come from? That’s not entirely certain, but probably from Siberia. For centuries it has been used to support immunity, vitality, even strength. It is also known as the “Russian penicillin”.
Natural antibiotic
For some it is smelly and unpleasantly pungent, for others a tasty antibiotic, but it has its greatest power in its raw state. It is precisely that smell, which bothers many, that is caused by allicin, which garlic produces and which actually gives it these brilliant properties. Allicin isn’t really present in intact garlic; it only forms when it is “broken”. So swallowing a whole clove won’t have much effect — it’s best to chop it, crush it or chew it well. Not only is it a strong antibiotic, it is also a powerful opponent of parasites, yeasts, viruses and fungi.
What can it help you with?
During the current flu season garlic is something you really must have at home. Do you have a blocked nose? Just take a deep breath of the smell of garlic; your nose may clear better than the fabled drops from ubiquitous ads, which are usually quite addictive besides.
Garlic generally helps cleanse the body; it is said to also have anti-cancer and antitumor effects.
It also helps with acne — it reduces inflammation, can even completely heal problematic spots and, most importantly, purifies.
It also deals with fats, blood clots, the enemy cholesterol and blood pressure. It improves circulation to the brain and even helps lower blood sugar levels.
Warts or corns. Anyone who has had the misfortune to get to know them well knows very well how difficult they are to get rid of. Pharmacy preparations are not only too aggressive, but often ineffective. Try rubbing warts with garlic until they disappear, or cleverly tape them over like this overnight.
How to eat garlic?
As we have already mentioned, garlic should be eaten raw if you want to make use of all the good things it offers. It’s also not recommended to overdo consumption. Watch out for old garlic, which you can recognize because it no longer has a fresh green sprout in the middle. Although garlic adds an amazing flavor when cooked, it loses a significant portion of its effects.
What could be better than garlic toast?
Once someone has it, they might not want to eat other toast… If garlic breath bothers you (or your partner, classmates or colleagues), a sip of milk should help.
And what about wild garlic?
Its season isn’t on at the moment, but as soon as it arrives, find some time and go out to pick some. You’ll certainly smell it before you see it.
