The stomach as an organ is part of the digestive system and is located between the small intestine and the esophagus.
Its main task is to use gastric acids to digest mainly proteins, which are then broken down into amino acids in the small intestine by enzymes.
Amino acids are subsequently absorbed into the blood in the small intestine and carried by it to other organs, where they are used for the synthesis of new proteins or hormones.
How the stomach, besides digestion, also protects the intestines
The acids in the stomach have a low pH value, which, in addition to breaking down proteins, easily kills pathogenic bacteria that could cause dangerous infections in the body.
In this way the stomach essentially protects the intestines from infectious diseases. If this process fails for any reason, diarrhea can occur, for example.
However, infections do not have to affect only the intestines; they can also affect the stomach itself.
This then leads to inflammation of the stomach lining, bloating, heartburn, loss of appetite, bleeding, stomach ulcers and pain.
An ill stomach is also medically referred to as gastritis.
Factors that cause gastritis
Gastritis can be caused by the following:
- smoking
- excessive alcohol consumption
- chronic stress
- unhealthy eating habits
- excessive use of nonsteroidal painkillers (ibuprofen, paracetamol)
- infection by the bacterium Helicobacter pylori
- There are numerous conventional therapies for gastritis and heartburn. However, most standard medications cause undesirable side
effects that further make patients’ lives miserable.
Natural methods for treating gastritis and heartburn
Fortunately there are also natural methods that do not have this problem with side effects. And that’s exactly what we’ll tell you a bit more about now.
1. Rice water
Cook 2 full handfuls of rice in 1 liter of water. Strain the water and let it cool.
To relieve heartburn and treat gastritis, drink this water daily until the health problems subside.
2. Carrot and celery juice
Place 2 carrots, a few stalks of celery and a little water into a blender.
Blend until a smooth smoothie forms. This drink will relieve symptoms and pain from gastritis and is also very effective at suppressing heartburn.
Consume as needed.
3. Pear and ginger
Similar to the previous recipe, put the listed ingredients into the blender here as well, add a little water and blend.
This drink has strong antibiotic and anti-inflammatory effects. It is also very effective against harmful bacteria in the stomach.
4. Apple and chamomile
Peel the apple and cut it into wedges. Place them in a pan or pot, add water and a few chamomile flowers.
Bring this mixture to a boil and let it cool to room temperature.
Drink the liquid daily and stomach pain or heartburn will soon pass.
5. Parsley juice
Place a handful of parsley greens and a liter of water into a blender and blend well.
Then drink this liquid every day. Keep it in the refrigerator and prepare a fresh drink each day.
