It doesn’t matter whether you are a man or a woman; when it’s time for new shoes, your feet always suffer. We bring you several ways to avoid this torture.
1. Classic plasters
This method is common but very good and proven. You just need the good old plasters. They prevent rubbing, reduce pressure and the chance of blisters, especially if you are wearing high heels. Make sure to use a larger piece of plaster than the problem area on the shoe to ensure the plaster doesn’t move.
2. Body powder
Body powder can reduce the pressure and pain you feel when wearing new shoes. Sprinkle a little powder on your feet and also gently apply it inside the shoe. If you won’t be wearing socks, make sure your feet are not wet or damp.
3. Socks and heat
Put on socks and wear the shoes you want to stretch. Once you have those two steps done, take a hairdryer, turn it on and aim it at the problem areas. When the shoes warm up, try walking in them until they cool completely. It should be noted, however, that this method is not effective for all materials but only for natural ones, such as leather.
4. Deodorant
The edge of the shoe, the heel and the toe are the most commonly affected areas. To reduce these issues, apply deodorant to the sensitive spots on your foot.
5. Silicone insoles
These are available at any shoe store or, in some cases, at certain pharmacies as well. They can be obtained in various shapes and sizes, so just choose the ones you need.
6. Ice
Fill a plastic bag with water, put it into the shoe and place the shoe in the freezer overnight. By turning the water into ice it will slightly stretch the shoe for you.
7. Alcohol and paper
Apply alcohol inside the shoe so that it is wet, then stuff it with as much paper as possible, depending on how much you want it stretched. Leave it like that overnight and in the morning remove the paper and wear the shoe so it can adapt to your foot.
8. Moisturizing cream
This method can be used for genuine leather shoes only. Place a little cream inside the shoe. Focus especially on the toe and heel. The cream will soften the shoe a bit and the next day, when you wear it, it will shape to your foot.
9. Potato
This trick can be used for new sneakers or canvas shoes. Insert a clean potato into the shoe overnight. It usually doesn’t leave any smell, but to be safe wrap it in something to avoid that.
10. Local cobbler
This may be the most reliable option for you. Most of them have the right equipment to help you with your problem. They know how to adjust shoes to a specific foot so they no longer cause suffering when walking.
