Are you suffering from inflammation or pain in the lower part of your feet? It’s professionally called plantar fasciitis. It is a painful condition, but usually does not require surgery.
In his video Dr. Donald DeFabio demonstrates a technique that will help you relieve the pain caused by this condition.
What is the Graston technique
It is a technique by which doctors, physiotherapists, athletic trainers or chiropractors can help their patients using a simple metal instrument to remove scar tissue and restore elasticity (flexibility) in the foot.
This method drives blood into painful areas, which supports and speeds healing. The same technique is used not only on the feet but also on the calves.
The calves are very important for eliminating foot pain.
If the calves are sufficiently flexible, this prevents the feet from rolling or turning the wrong way when walking.
During the session the therapist, in addition to massaging the calves and feet, also uses adhesive tape with the aim of relieving the pressure that creates plantar fasciitis.

How to apply this technique
Dr. Defabio comes from Barkeley in California and specializes in chiropractic methods for treating spinal problems, musculoskeletal issues and sports medicine.
You can try his technique yourself at home with the help of a family member.
If you are not sure how to perform it, inform your rehabilitation doctor, masseur or physiotherapist about it. They can study it and subsequently perform it on you.
