Today’s era is characterized by a fast pace of life, stress and an unhealthy way of eating. Such a lifestyle inevitably has a negative effect on our health and appearance.
And one of the first areas to be affected is our face, where dark circles under the eyes begin to form as a result of swollen, possibly drooping or loosened skin.
Many women turn to eyelid surgery as a solution. However, it is a relatively expensive procedure that furthermore does not remove the cause of the problem and its effect is only temporary.
Fortunately, there is one simple natural mask that can help you tremendously with this cosmetic problem.
It is a facial mask based on baking soda and chamomile tea.
A brief history of baking soda
Baking soda is a relatively recent invention. Around 1846 it began to be produced and sold by Dr. Austin Church and John Dwight in the USA.
It didn’t take long and already by 1860 baking soda was widely promoted in numerous cookbooks. Initially it was almost exclusively used as an ingredient for baking.
In the 1920s to 1930s, however, its range of uses expanded significantly and it began to be talked about as the new “medical miracle”.
When it comes to cosmetics, baking soda is a perfect substitute for many expensive cosmetic products. Most of them are not even as effective as they tend to claim to be.
Moreover, these cosmetics contain many toxic substances with a large number of harmful side effects.
Effects of baking soda on the skin
Baking soda is very effective especially against acne, rashes and eczema.
A lesser-known effect is also the reduction of puffiness and dark circles under the eyes. And it’s this use that we’ll go into more detail about in our today’s article.
Many cosmetic products even contain baking soda, but along with other chemicals.
You, however, can make such a mask1 yourself, which will be purely natural, free of harmful substances and even more effective than most commercial cosmetics.
And moreover, the aforementioned eyelid surgery will not be necessary.
Ingredients
To make our mask you will need the following ingredients.
- 1 tablespoon of baking soda
- 1 glass of chamomile tea
Procedure and application
Follow these steps:
1. Prepare a glass of chamomile tea and let it cool to a lukewarm temperature.
2. Mix the tea with the baking soda so that it fully dissolves.
3. Take a cotton facial cleansing pad, soak it in the solution and apply it to the eyelids.
4. Lie down on a bed or couch, or sit in a chair, tilt your head back and leave it on for 15 minutes.
5. At the end, rinse your face with lukewarm water. If you wish, you can use a natural cream or coconut oil to moisturize the skin.
Conclusion
Use this mask on a regular basis. It won’t take long and the dark circles under the eyes will disappear and your skin will remain nicely revitalized.
To support the effect of the mentioned mask you can also try some other things2 against eyelid swelling.
For example, applying cucumber slices, used black tea bags, aloe vera, potato slices, or a coriander infusion have proven effective.
