One of the most common health problems is the formation of canker sores in the oral cavity. They can appear on the oral mucosa, under the tongue, at the gum line and on the inner sides of the lips or cheeks.
Their typical symptom is a strong, stabbing pain. However, this pain does not appear immediately when the canker sore appears, but reaches full intensity only after a few days.
If you know the right remedy and notice the canker sore early enough, you will have enough time to prevent the peak of the pain.
Fortunately, there is one simple but incredibly effective natural substance that can quickly kick-start the healing of canker sores.
Salt and treating canker sores
It’s regular table salt. All you need to do is dissolve 1 teaspoon of salt in a glass of clean lukewarm water and use this solution to rinse your mouth for several minutes.
Then spit out the solution.
It works by the salt drawing out and absorbing the fluid from the sore that contains the viruses causing canker sores, dramatically accelerating the healing process.
Repeat this procedure several times a day and the canker sores will be gone within 24 hours!
If for any reason this remedy doesn’t suit you, is not sufficiently effective, or if you want to speed up healing even more, we’ll share a few more natural remedies for canker sores.
Baking soda
Baking soda neutralizes acidity, relieves pain and suppresses the inflammation caused by canker sores.
In a bowl, mix a little baking soda with water in a 1:1 ratio to obtain a gentle paste. Apply it to the affected area and leave it on for a few minutes.
Then rinse your mouth with lukewarm water. Repeat 3 to 4 times a day.
Aloe vera
Aloe vera has strong anti-inflammatory, antibacterial and healing properties that speed up healing and suppress inflammation and pain.
Simply scrape some gel from fresh aloe leaves and apply it to the canker sores 3 to 4 times a day.
Honey
Like aloe, honey also has significant anti-inflammatory and antiseptic effects. Honeydew honey is best for this purpose.
Simply apply it to the affected areas a few times a day. At first, honey applied to the canker sore may cause pain, but it will soon pass.
Sage
This useful herb effectively treats canker sores and provides quick relief.
Add 3 teaspoons of dried sage leaves to 400 ml of boiling water and let steep for 10 to 15 minutes. Then strain the tea and rinse your mouth with it for several minutes a few times a day.
Coriander
Coriander is another great herb with anti-inflammatory, antiseptic and antifungal properties. It also helps relieve unpleasant pain.
All you need to do is steep a few coriander leaves in a glass of boiling water, strain and let it cool. Use this liquid to rinse your mouth 3 to 4 times a day.
