Garlic is considered to be one of the most powerful medicinal herbs. It is also surprising that it is used in almost every cuisine in the world.
Although it has a rather pungent smell and not everyone likes it, garlic is extremely effective in treating many ailments.

If we were to name only a few of the most important health effects that garlic has, they would be the following:
- prevents atherosclerosis, heart attacks and coronary heart disease
- reduces high blood pressure
- lowers cholesterol levels in the blood
- treats common infections such as flu or colds
- alleviates symptoms of hay fever
- kills fungal infections
- suppresses diarrhea
- relieves pain and itching after insect stings
The health effects of garlic can be further multiplied if combined, for example, with ginger or honey.
In these cases, such a mixture furthermore excellently detoxifies the body, removes heavy metals or other toxins — both external ones and the products of the body’s own metabolism.
It is especially recommended after chemotherapy, which literally floods the body with harmful substances.
How to use garlic
For best results, it is recommended to consume garlic raw.
The only thing you need to do is peel it, crush it and leave it exposed to the air for 10 to 15 minutes. That is when, through enzymes, one of its most active substances – allicin – is activated.
When cooking, part of the allicin is destroyed. Not all of it, but the overall effect of the garlic is reduced and to compensate one would have to consume a larger amount.
Furthermore, in its raw state the active compounds in garlic are more bioavailable.
Garlic is also a relatively strong irritant. Therefore it should not be consumed on an empty stomach, or applied to the skin for longer than a few minutes. Before using it eat something, or mix it with another food.
Today we will introduce 2 great recipes based on garlic.
Natural recipe for energy and against fatigue
For its preparation you will need:
- 2 to 3 cloves of garlic
- 1 tablespoon of honey
Procedure and use
Crush the garlic cloves and mix them with the honey. You can prepare a larger amount at once by maintaining the stated ratio of ingredients.
It should keep for a week or more because honey acts as a preservative.
Then take 1 to 2 teaspoons of this mixture daily. After 7 days you will feel much more energy and almost no fatigue during the day.
Garlic recipe for the flu
If you want to make an effective natural remedy against the flu or other infections, you will need the following ingredients:
- 5 cloves of garlic
- 2 red chili peppers
- 3 cm long piece of ginger root
- 1 lemon
- 3 dcl unfiltered and unpasteurized apple cider vinegar
- 4 to 5 dcl large glass canning jar with a lid
Procedure
1. Clean and crush the garlic and place it into the jar in a single layer.
2. Add the chopped chili peppers to it
3. Now grate the ginger and add it into the jar with the other ingredients.
4. Finally, juice the lemon and pour its juice into the jar.
5. Finally, pour apple cider vinegar over the entire contents so that you leave approximately 1 cm of free space from the top edge and then close the jar.
Place the jar in a dark place and let it stand for approximately 14 days.
Usage
For the flu and colds take 2 to 3 teaspoons of this tonic daily (morning, noon and evening) diluted in a glass of clean water.
You can also take it as prevention for the ailments mentioned at the beginning of the article. In that case, take 1 teaspoon daily.
