Research thirty years ago showed that aspirin reduces the risk of heart attack or stroke. Many patients still regularly take aspirin in the belief that they prevent serious health problems. The opposite is true, as confirmed by the latest studies.
Aspirin
The research results were published in the respected journal Family Pracitice , where the study author Mark Ebell raised a warning finger. Together with colleagues they examined patient data from 1978 to 2005, during which 1 000 patients treated with aspirin suffered bleeding into the brain or stomach. “About 1 in 300 people who took aspirin for five years experienced bleeding in the brain. That is a serious harm. This type of bleeding can be fatal,” the study reports.
