Each of us wants to be healthy and has certainly heard about the importance of a healthy diet or regular exercise.
In this article, however, we decided to go a bit further and take a closer look at the daily routines of unusually healthy people.
As it turns out, these people do things that the rest of us do not. And that is exactly what gives them an advantage, which allows them to stay in top condition for the long term.
So let’s get to it …
1. They surround themselves with other healthy people
Exceptionally healthy individuals tend to surround themselves with people who have a similar lifestyle and goals as they do.
If you want to change something in your own life, look for the kind of people you want to become and listen to their advice.
2. They don’t believe in diets
Diets are only a temporary solution and healthy people know this. They can reduce body weight in the short term, but you cannot stay on any diet forever.
Instead of diets, focus on which foods in your diet are unsuitable for you and find better substitutes for them.
For example, brown rice instead of white, or roasted pumpkin or sweet potatoes instead of fries.
When exceptionally healthy people crave a piece of pizza or a chocolate-glazed cake, they simply have it. Of course, in moderation.
And because most of the time they follow healthy eating principles, they don’t feel guilty about such small indulgences.
3. They maintain intimate relationships
A healthy intimate life clearly has a positive effect on health — physical, mental, and spiritual.
No matter how much you exercise or how many servings of vegetables you have a day, if your personal life isn’t good, you will never feel healthy and happy.
4. They move
Healthy people make sure to be physically active every day for at least 30 minutes. They also enjoy exercising.
The only way to like exercise is to do what brings you joy.
If you don’t like running, then don’t run. If lifting weights at the gym doesn’t appeal to you, then don’t go to the gym.
Find an activity you enjoy. Whether it’s yoga, Zumba, walks in nature, or rock climbing.
You will surely find something that interests you.
5. They take breaks and go outside
Some researchers believe that going outside could save our generation from stress-related illnesses.
Try to take a break from your rushed, stressful life, stop and smell the roses. Walks outside will also help you achieve better sleep, which is irreplaceable for health.
6. They go offline, disconnect from the internet
For most of us, social networks have become part of our daily routines. If you’re reading this article right now, welcome to the club!
The internet is how we look up news, learn new things, and have conversations with people. However, social networks and media cannot replace face-to-face socializing and communication.
Call your friends, colleagues, family, or classmates and go for coffee with them. Or simply talk to your neighbors.
7. They get the most out of their sleep
Exceptionally healthy people know that getting enough sleep is essential for good physical and mental health. For someone it’s 8 hours, for another six is enough.
Learn to listen to your body. How you sleep is also important.
Research confirms that staying in a room that is too bright at night disrupts the quality of your sleep. So if you like sleeping in front of the TV, it’s not a very good idea.
Other studies confirm that better sleep is achieved in cooler rooms. Our body temperature drops during sleep, and the lower it is, the better the sleep.
Also make sure not to ignore the need for a short nap during the day if you need it. For example, it’s good to nap for 20 minutes after lunch.
Just listen to your body.
8. They always learn something new
Do you remember how excited you were to learn new and interesting things every day when you were a child?
Try to awaken that child in you again. It’s still there. Let out your dreams and desires!
Today’s times are great because we have almost unlimited resources for learning new things. So turn off your TV or computer and do it!
Maybe you wanted to learn how to cook some new dish. Or learn a new language. Or become a pilot. Today is the perfect time for that.
9. They plan
Exceptionally healthy people always have plans. They structure their day and therefore always have time to get everything done.
They know what they want to achieve. They plan their meals in advance, prepare exercise plans, and follow them without excuses.
And they also remember to include breaks for rest in their daily schedule.
10. Health is a priority for them
This is probably the most important routine of all remarkably healthy people.
No matter what they do, they take their health into account. They regularly attend preventive medical check-ups. They monitor their health.
They realize that health is a gift and never take it for granted.
