The present time gives us the opportunity to experiment with food, with new and healthier dishes constantly appearing on the market. Many of us these days are even trying to return to our roots and are not afraid to revive old recipes and innovate them. But how to replace “fatty” and caloric ingredients with their healthier alternatives? You might be surprised, but you can find several basic ingredients in almost every household!
Replacing long-established traditional foods can be a gradual process for some; others can do it practically overnight. If you limit or eliminate unhealthy dishes from your diet, you’ll gain more energy and a better mood, which is definitely worth it! 🙂
REPLACE WHITE FLOUR with cereal, spelt, buckwheat or corn.
There are also other alternatives on offer, but these are somewhat more expensive, e.g. almond flour.
WHITE SUGAR replace with honey, cane brown sugar, Stevia, or coconut sugar or cane molasses.
WHITE RICE replace with brown (natural) rice.
PASTA MADE FROM WHITE FLOUR replace with wholegrain varieties, or try their healthier natural alternative, quinoa. It is not a cereal, but it is used in the same way, is healthy and tasty.
CEREALS AND MUESLI BARS long had a reputation as healthy foods, but in reality they are often full of sugars (they are basically a coated sweet). The best option is therefore to make them yourself using oat flakes with fruit (dried is fine, but avoid sweetened ones), nuts or grated coconut, and sweeten them with a little honey.
SWEET DRINKS replace with water, or tea without sugar. A suitable option is green tea, which has stimulating effects and also acts as an antioxidant. Other excellent alternatives are herbal and fruit teas.
SWEETS can be replaced by fruit or a smoothie, which is especially suitable for those who do not have problems with digestion and bloating.
Definitely replace milk chocolate with dark chocolate with as high a cocoa content as possible.
FRIES full of fat leave for the gluttons in fast food places and try homemade sweet potato fries baked in the oven without unnecessary fat.
SUNFLOWER OIL swap for olive or coconut oil.
COW CHEESE replace with goat or sheep cheese.
COW’S MILK swap for plant-based milks, e.g. coconut, almond, rice, oat — lactose is generally hard to digest and the hormones in milk often trigger unwanted acne.
Replace BUTTER with ghee butter, composed almost entirely of saturated fats, or coconut oil.
FRIED DISHES replace with baked, stewed, or steamed preparations.
