After the outbreak of the respiratory disease COVID-19, people immediately began to be concerned about the ways they could become infected. It is demonstrable that the main method is transmission from person to person . Is it possible, however, for the virus to be transmitted via food or imported products? We know the answer!

Slovaks began to ask about other ways the coronavirus could be introduced besides the fact that it is transmitted from person to person. For this reason they continuously contact the State Veterinary and Food Administration, which decided to respond and issued a statement. ,, … there is no evidence that food in connection with COVID-19 would pose any risk to the public, “ is stated in  the official document .

Transmission

According to experts, a study was carried out which found that COVID-19 can be present on cardboard packaging for up to 24 hours and for several days on hard surfaces such as steel or plastic. Based on the obtained data, an experimental study was conducted which concluded with a clear result. ,, … there is no evidence that infection was transmitted via contaminated packaging that had been exposed to various environmental conditions and temperatures. Nevertheless, it is necessary to take into account concerns that virus present on the skin can be transferred to the respiratory system (e.g., by touching the face), “ the agency’s staff warn.
