The sixty-nine-year-old patient has been fighting the coronavirus for over a month at Prague’s Na Bulovka Hospital. He survived Covid-19, but the treatment did not go without serious complications.

The man encountered pneumonia, which, according to his words, was worse than the virus itself.

One of the fighters against the coronavirus at Prague’s Na Bulovka Hospital is also a sixty-nine-year-old man who survived Covid-19. However, the treatment was not without complications. The patient described more than a month of hospitalization to the idnes.cz portal. At first he experienced symptoms of an ordinary flu; because of mild fevers, coughing and a runny nose he did not worry. But the troubles lasted longer than usual.

„There was nothing left but to go to the hospital,“ the man says. „For me it was associated with pneumonia. And that was probably worse than the virus itself,“ he continues.

„For me it was far worse than the flu, probably because I fall into the older age category,“ the patient believes.

He looks forward to his family and beer

He is now preparing to return home; he is most looking forward to his family, but he also missed beer in the hospital. “As soon as I recover properly, I’ll have at least one small, chilled Pilsner,“ the man revealed. At Prague’s Bulovka they care for critically ill coronavirus patients and have specially equipped resuscitation units for that purpose. In addition to a pulmonary ventilator, this also includes further care for the airways or nutrition. „For the patient we replace all bodily functions,“ explained the head of the emergency department Svatopluk Žáček.
