Although most Slovaks hope that wearing masks or isolation will last only a few weeks or months, they are apparently mistaken. Experts have revealed that some form of isolation and the wearing of protective equipment will likely continue for years.
Many Slovaks are already itching to finally take masks off their faces and go freely out among people. Original scenarios spoke of the pandemic dragging into the summer, but experts have now revealed how long orders regarding isolation or the wearing of protective equipment will last.

In an extraordinary broadcast on Markíza television on Thursday it was clearly stated that a new reality awaits us, and that we will probably be wearing masks until 2022. Nevertheless, Professor Krčméry suggested that kindergartens and the first levels of primary schools be opened . Similarly, analysts and economists are calling for a gradual reopening of the economy. The forecast, however, says we must prepare for reduced economic growth and the continuation of measures for the next two years.
It is precisely in 2022 that the development of a vaccine is expected, and until then we must continue to protect ourselves. Likewise, it appears that social distancing, canceled concerts, sporting events, conferences and public gatherings will also persist. Scientists at Harvard University even, according to South China Morning Post in their most recent expert article state that the threat of the virus may persist or recur until 2024. Everything will thus depend on how strictly we can follow orders as well as on the speed of development of an effective vaccine.
