Mass testing was supposed to start as early as Monday, but due to problems with types of individual tests it will only begin on Wednesday. The result should be clear data on what percentage of the Czech population has already had coronavirus.
Only now will it be revealed how many people are actually infected with coronavirus in the Czech Republic.
Mass testing will be carried out in Prague, in South Moravia, the Litovel area and the Litoměřice area. The sample of the population is 28 thousand people who will be tested by doctors.
The study was originally supposed to start on Monday, but it will now take place on Wednesday. The government will publish further details on Tuesday.
“We want to present the study on Tuesday at a press conference, then it should be launched from Wednesday,” the minister said.
Three times more infected
It is assumed that the number of infected will be three times higher than the current figures. According to those figures, there are over 6,650 infected in the Czech Republic.
“If the tested sample shows a significantly higher prevalence of the virus, the epidemic could end within two months.”.
The selection of those tested should correspond to the creation of a classic representative sample. It should involve people of different gender, age and education.
