Since March 25 Slovaks are required to wear protective elements on the face in the form of a mask, scarves or headscarves . Nearly a month after the government’s order the Public Health Office of the Slovak Republic decided to reassess the necessity of wearing protective equipment in several situations.
Hygienists first of all urge Slovaks to thoroughly wash their hands or use an antibacterial gel before putting on a mask. They also add that it is necessary to cover both the nose and the mouth so that there are no gaps exposing the skin between them.
Where the rule does not apply
The Public Health Office of the Slovak Republic also issued a statement in which it altered the rules for wearing masks, with the order taking effect from midnight on April 21. The wearing of protective elements is not mandatory for:
- children under two years
- people who suffer from disorders as a result of autism
- persons in a private vehicle, provided they are alone or with members of the same household
- public transport drivers who are in a closed cab
- members of the same household when outdoors (the distance from other people must be 20 meters)
- people not living in the same household when outdoors (the mutual distance must be 20 meters)
