Chinese culture and medicine believe that there are a large number of important points on our feet that are directly connected to various parts and organs of the body.

Therefore, by stimulating and massaging these points we can bring relief and improvement to many bodily problems.

What the Tai Chong (LV3) point is used for
The Tai Chong point, sometimes referred to as LV3, is considered by Chinese medicine to be one of the most valuable points on our body.

It is located on both feet between the big toe and the second toe, a few centimeters above the place where the skin of the big toe meets the skin of the second toe.

It is believed that stimulation of this point helps improve the following health problems:

  • relieves headaches
  • reduces back pain
  • lowers high blood pressure
  • eases menstrual cramps
  • provides relief to sore and swollen feet
  • relieves insomnia and anxiety conditions

In addition to the above painful conditions, it also brings improvements in regulating liver function, its detoxification and subsequent regeneration.

Furthermore, according to many Chinese texts, its stimulation is also very beneficial in cases of digestive problems, ulcers, problems with the reproductive organs, irritability, and eye diseases.

Current scientific studies in randomized trials have confirmed that acupuncture and acupressure stimulation of the LV3 point also has positive effects on depression following a stroke.

How to correctly stimulate the Tai Chong point

To harness all the effects that this point brings, it is necessary to stimulate it in the following way:

1. Place the pads of your index or middle fingers on the area between the first and second toes at the level of the top of the big toe joint.

2. The Tai Chong (LV3) point is located in the depression between the bones leading to the toes. When pressed it should be more sensitive than the surrounding area.

3. Apply pressure and massage the area for 2 to 3 seconds, then take a 5-second break.

4. Perform the massage for 2 minutes.

Remember that the correct movement to stimulate this point is counterclockwise. You can massage one or both feet at the same time.

You should not do this massage when you feel weak or when you have too little energy.
