We know it’s great to regularly treat yourself to a glass of wine, a cup of quality coffee and a good tea, and especially in crisis situations they comfort us. But now we have another good piece of news for ourselves and for you. If you like beer, drink it!
Occasionally and in moderation beer does no harm – on the contrary, it can help a lot with various troubles. So why drink beer?
1. It contains vitamin B
The fact that beer is saturated with „B“ is a well-known thing. But do you know what this vitamin is good for? Together with the acids that are also in beer, it primarily benefits your skin, because it supports the metabolism for its more effective regeneration.
2. Reduces the risk of stroke and heart attack
You might think you definitely don’t need to worry about this, but believe that we won’t all be as young as we are now. Besides – heart attack is unfortunately quite a normal thing even among thirty-somethings. Scientists have found that drinking half a liter to a liter of beer daily reduces the risk of a heart attack by 40-60 %. Against stroke, some ingredients in beer help by preventing red blood cells from clumping and the formation of blood clots.
Beer contains a large amount of vitamins and minerals. Beer is said to be a great remedy for colds. Mix it warm with a little honey and sip it. You’ll feel better!
3. Helps with weight loss
Well, that’s a bit controversial. It has been found that beer drinkers may lose weight more easily than abstainers, because beer can really kickstart the metabolism, and it is also argued that beer has fewer calories than the same amount of fruit juice. On the other hand, its calories/kilojoules are certainly not negligible. A half-liter of a 10° beer has about 770 kJ, which is comparable to, for example, two larger pieces of honey cake. To burn this amount of energy you would have to (for example at a weight of 70 kg) walk for 50 minutes or run faster for 20 minutes.
4. Helps with insomnia
Hands on heart – who among us hasn’t reached for a bit of alcohol when they couldn’t fall asleep for a long time? Beer is allegedly the very best for this because it appropriately stimulates the production of dopamine, which otherwise is prescribed as a drug for insomnia when the body is not able to produce it in sufficient amounts itself. Even a spoonful of light or dark beer can ensure you a good night.
5. Positively affects bones and teeth
Beer contains quite a lot of calcium and phosphorus, which are minerals that have a say in the condition of bones and teeth.
When they are lacking, their quality decreases and the teeth may not be a pleasant sight.
6. Perfectly quenches thirst
It is said that after physical activity one should not drink alcohol because it dehydrates even more. With beer that somehow doesn’t apply. If you count yourself among beer lovers, you have surely already quenched your thirst after sport or any physical exertion with this drink. According to scientists, beer is more beneficial at such moments than any special isotonic drink, for which you also pay sinful money. Beer perfectly quenches thirst. Few things beat a freshly tapped one after sport…
7. Prevents the development of Alzheimer’s disease

Another bogeyman on the horizon. Beer helps against it. Not that it would cure everyone whom this „unpredictable German who hides things“ affects, but from studies from the 1970s we know that beer drinkers deal with this disease up to 23 % less. There is also talk of a reduced risk of developing dementia. This is probably mainly due to silica, which protects the brain from the effects of aluminum, which is one of the causes of Alzheimer’s disease.
8. Destroys kidney stones
Beer drinkers reportedly have a 40 % lower chance, thanks to the magnesium contained in beer, of being troubled by kidney stones. And that is a pretty unpleasant and painful matter.
9. Protects the stomach from ulcers
They say it’s enough to drink three large beers a week – then bacteria that cause gastritis and ulcers do not develop.
10. Covers a significant portion of the need for vitamins and minerals
If you drink one liter of beer daily, you get about 20 % of the daily need for vitamin B2, 35 % of vitamin B6, 50 % of niacin and 25 % of pantothenic acid.
Beer is healthy, but be careful with it!
Beer is evidently healthy and helps with many things, but don’t forget about its calories so you won’t be surprised by a growing belly later. Daily drinking of beer can also easily become an addiction. According to experts it’s fine if men have a maximum of two large beers daily and women about one large and one small.
