Ear reflexology, also known as auricular therapy, has been used in traditional Chinese medicine for hundreds of years.

Like all other forms of reflexology (foot and hand reflexology), ear reflexology is a very effective method for treating and eliminating internal health problems in various parts of our body.

If foot reflexology does not suit us or we cannot undergo it for some health reasons, we can replace it with ear reflexology.

Reflexology is an ancient therapeutic procedure that can be applied alongside conventional treatments. Thanks to reflexology, a countless number of various diseases can be cured.

Reflexology is a gentle, nonviolent and noninvasive therapeutic procedure that is over 5,000 years old and has its origins in ancient Egyptian and Chinese medicine. It has remained popular to this day.

Beneficial effects of ear reflexology

Both of our ears contain a complete map of all the reflex (nerve) pathways of our organism. The ear is full of nerve endings and contains a large number of nerve pathways that are directly connected to the central nervous system.

Ear reflexology uses stimulation of zones and points in the ear that directly affect the energy centers in our body. These energy centers are also known as meridians.

The structure of our body and the placement of individual body parts corresponds to the arrangement of reflexology points in the ear — points related to the head are located in the upper part of the ear, while points related to the legs are located in the lower part of the ear.

When it comes to relieving and treating minor pains and problems, we do not always have time to immediately run to the doctor and sometimes we do not consider it necessary.

And some natural ways to relieve common pains and problems, such as herbal decoctions or stretching of various body and muscle parts, may not always be suitable for us.

That is why knowing the sensitive points in the ear and how to use them to our benefit is an excellent solution.

6 sensitive points in our ear

1. Back and shoulders

The first sensitive point is located at the very top of the upper part of the auricle. This point is directly connected to the back and shoulders. Stimulating it can effectively remove pain in these parts of the body.

We can massage this point every day for several minutes or even half an hour, depending on our time availability — this should help eliminate or at least reduce back and shoulder pain.

2. Organs

If we experience sharp internal pains, we should immediately see our doctor. But to remove only mild and non-serious problems with internal organs, knowledge and massaging of another point in the ear auricle will help us.

It is located directly below the first sensitive point, where the arm of the ear fold connects to the outer edge of the auricle.

Massaging this point for a few minutes every day can help us alleviate or even get rid of some pains and problems with internal organs.

3. Joints

The third sensitive point is located in the upper half of the middle part of the auricle. Reflexology uses it to reduce joint pain and problems.

Joint pain can appear due to weather changes, seasonal shifts, or as a manifestation of arthritis.

Reflexological stimulation of this point, however, is considered quite effective in removing various joint problems — without having to resort to medication.

It is enough to gently press this point every day for a few minutes and joint problems should disappear.

4. Sinuses and throat

We can reduce a runny nose or sinus inflammation by acting on the fourth sensitive point, which is located in the lower half of the middle part of our auricle.

Gently pressing this point with the fingers can reduce tension in our sinuses, making it easier to breathe and sleep better.

5. Digestion

If we want to get rid of mild and non-serious digestive problems, try massaging the fifth sensitive point, which is located directly above the ear auricle.

Stimulating this point can remove mild aches and discomfort in our stomach and intestines and relieve bloating or gas.

When we begin to feel heaviness and discomfort in our insides, simply massage this point gently for a few minutes. After a short time we should start to feel relief.

6. Head and heart

These two important parts of our body are directly connected to the last sensitive point in our ear auricle, which is located directly in the earlobe.

A gentle massage of the earlobes helps keep our heart healthy and at the same time reduces tension in the head. Massaging the earlobes, which only takes a few minutes a day, is an excellent way to get rid of pressure and headaches.

Knowing the six sensitive points listed above can help us a lot when we want to get rid of (or at least reduce the symptoms of) common and non-serious illnesses, pains or discomfort in some part of our body.

However, if the problem is serious, long-term, or even worsening, we definitely recommend that you seek medical help immediately.

Keep the six sensitive points in our auricle in reserve in case you are troubled by a nasty headache or an upset stomach.

Thanks to gentle massage of these points, we may eventually not even have to reach for pills.
