From today the government has allowed the reopening of premises up to 2 500 square meters that are not part of a shopping centre over 5 000 square meters, or have entrances from the outside.

This means that clothing and footwear stores will also open.

However, shops must comply with the conditions published by the Ministry of Health on its website. What rules will apply to the shops?

Ban on trying on clothing

In stores reopened from Monday certain rules will have to be maintained. One of them is a ban on trying on clothes, meaning fitting rooms will be closed. Customers therefore will not be able to try on the clothes they wish to buy.

Many retailers complain about this measure, because who would want to buy clothing without knowing how it fits.

Quarantine for clothing

People will, however, have the option to return clothing if they cannot try it on in the store. Returned clothing will immediately go into a three-day quarantine. Returned goods will be placed into a container or box labeled quarantine.

Trying on shoes with socks

Although the ministry did not allow trying on garments, you can try on shoes in the store. However, you must wear a sock and disinfect your hands before trying them on.

„Shoes can be tried on, but not on a bare foot, which has mostly been the case until now. And people must disinfect their hands before that,“ said the deputy prime minister and minister of industry and trade.

Distances and disinfection

Retailers must ensure that customers maintain at least two-metre distances from each other. It is also required that retailers have disinfectant placed by frequently touched objects, such as handles. In addition, staff will have to wear gloves when handling goods and when accepting payments from customers.
